Drogheda Boys u13s pulled off a major summer transfer when signing the exciting young talent, Sam Murtagh. Sam made his debut for the ‘Boys at the Kells Blackwater tournament and has settled straight into the team.
Sam has kindly put together an article on how both he and the team got on this past weekend as we entered the knockout stages of the tournament.

On Saturday last we played in the knockout stage of the Kells Blackwater Tournament. This was my fourth game for my new club Drogheda Boys and I was really excited! Belvedere didn't show for are quarter-final so we played Kells Blackwater which was a very physical game were we came out on top with a 2-1 victory...next we came up against the well organised Cherry Orchard team.
In the first half Cherry orchard had most of the possession and looked very dangerous on the attack. They eventually broke through our defence. In the second half they cherry orchard scored again although we were holding our shape well. After some nice passing we scored a brilliant goal from Josh and came away with our heads held high.

In the playoff between 3rd and 4th we came up against Park Villa and our hopes were high as we had beaten them last week. I played right wing for this game. Park Villa had a very strong attacking force and scored against us early on. ur goalie Tom pulled off some magnificent saves that kept us in the game. Unfortunately we were beaten
Overall it was a great experience and Ive learned a lot from this competition and I am really looking forward to the start of the season as I feel I am really settling in well with my new team mates.
